As a family living in Varde Municipality, you will feel the presence of the community in everything from daycare centers and schools to extracurricular activities. Moreover, a common feature of all our childcare services is that nature is used as a space to play and learn.
Daycare Centers
In Varde Municipality, you may have your child in daycare, nursery, kindergarten, or an integrated daycare center in your local area. Daycare and nurseries are for children aged 6 months to 2 years and 11 months. Kindergarten is for children aged 2 years and 11 months until they start school. The integrated daycare centers have both a nursery and kindergarten section.
In Denmark, it is normal to have your children in daycare facilities. In fact, more than 90 percent of children aged 0-5 are enrolled in daycare facilities. However, if you prefer to look after your child at home, it is possible to apply for a subsidy.
Childcare Guarantee and Sibling Discount
We offer childcare guarantee for all children between 26 weeks and 5 years old. This applies to both daycare, nurseries, and kindergartens.
If you have multiple children enrolled in an institution at the same time, you will receive a sibling discount. In this case, you will pay full price for the most expensive spot and half price for the other spots. You will automatically receive the sibling discount and do not need to apply for it. The price for a full-time spot in a daycare facility is between 1,730 and 3,250 DKK per month.
Language Assessment
In Denmark, it is required that children from the age of 3 undergo a language assessment and receive language stimulation if needed. You will automatically be contacted by a bilingual consultant when your child turns 3 years old. The details of the language stimulation will be agreed upon individually with the bilingual consultant. Language stimulation may take place at home or at a daycare facility.
